Mobile Resistance
In an era where walls are rising—both literal and ideological—Mobile Resistance interjects itself into urban spaces as a quiet yet forceful rebuttal to isolationist impulses. The forged and bent reinforcing bars, once destined to become the rigid backbone of concrete structures, are instead liberated into fluid forms that crawl and climb through the city. Each piece precariously balances on at least three points of contact, symbolizing the power of collective grounding and interdependence. By subverting the bars’ original function, these sculptures invite us to question the invisible frameworks that shape our lives—whether architectural, political, or social.
Through this intervention, Mobile Resistance calls attention to how communities can be forged out of reimagined materials and repurposed spaces. It challenges viewers to see beyond the immediate function of the built environment and confront the boundaries—seen and unseen—that isolate us from one another. By embracing the precarious, the malleable, and the mobile, these sculptures serve as a metaphor for the resilience and adaptability required to resist the insular, fostering a renewed sense of connection and shared presence in the public realm.
