Art Button Collage
In this series, I explore the transformation of my drawings by cutting out circular segments, turning those pieces into wearable buttons, and then reinserting them into the original artwork. Each button is made from an actual fragment of the drawing—backed with a metallic front and sealed under plastic foil. I reflect on the cycle of creation, destruction, and renewal by physically removing a part of the composition and returning it in an altered form.
The circular cutouts function both as points of interruption in the original image and as tangible objects that extend beyond the flat plane of the paper. In doing so, they invite viewers to consider how artworks can move between contexts (from paper to a wearable format) and spaces (from a wall to a lapel, and back again). Through this process, the once “missing” fragment becomes a focal point, challenging the boundary between the ephemeral and the permanent in everyday visual culture.
