HOW ARE YOU
«45–47» Weaponized Discussion
A single sign that connects — and erases.
The 47th president was already the 45th.
The hyphen does not mark transition, but compression: a period in which continuity replaces consequence, and everything in between disappears.
45–47 is not about a presidency. It is about a structural failure of discourse. About a time in which simultaneity no longer produces connection, but division. Differences are not discovered — they are manufactured, amplified, and strategically opposed.
In today’s America, every event is absorbed instantly into an ideological feedback loop. ICE, migration, elections, shootings: nothing is allowed to remain unresolved long enough to be understood. Meaning is assigned at speed. Interpretation becomes an act of power.
The suitcase stages this condition physically.
Portable. Closed. Ready to move on.
A device designed for transport now carries fragments of circuitry, exposure, accusation. The question on its lid — “HOW [—] ARE YOU? SERIOUSLY, ISN’T THAT DANGEROUS?!” — is both intimate and hostile. A check-in and an attack. Concern weaponized into suspicion.
Technology here is not spectacular. It does not explode. It targets. Personalized signals, algorithmically filtered, reach individuals like calibrated strikes. Everyone is addressed — yet only messages that confirm existing positions are heard. Opinion overtakes fact. Volume overtakes accuracy. Reaction speed overtakes listening.
This dynamic becomes brutally visible after acts of violence. Before facts stabilize, narratives harden. Tragedy is converted into proof. Each side speaks louder, faster, more absolutely — and further away from shared reality. The victim disappears beneath interpretation.
The work insists: the connection still exists.
But it has become humanly inaccessible.
We can still technically communicate, yet lack a shared coordinate system to meet inside communication. The receivers are overloaded. The conversation turns into a competition for visibility. Silence is read as aggression. Complexity as betrayal.
45–47 does not offer reconciliation. It refuses instruction. Instead, it exposes the mechanics of erasure — of time, nuance, and the space between positions where understanding once formed.
If a civil conflict is approaching, it will not begin with armies. It will begin with the final collapse of shared interpretation.
In this sense, the suitcase is not a warning device.
It is already luggage — packed for a future in which discourse travels light, and meaning is discarded first.
